According to Ayurveda, water stored in a copper vessel has the ability to balance all three doshas in your body (vata, kapha and pitta) and it does this by positively charging the water. Storing water in a copper bottle acts as a purification process. It can kill all micro-organisms such as fungi, fungi, algae and bacteria present in the water that can be harmful to the body. It also helps to keep the body's pH value (acid base) in balance.
Traditional methods of cleaning the copper bottle are by rubbing the copper with a mixture of salt and tamarind paste. Nowadays you can use fresh lemon juice, salt or baking powder and vinegar to clean it. Leave it in the bottle overnight or for at least 8 hours for the best effect. Rinse in the morning.
- To get the most out of your copper bottle, fill it with water the night before use.
- Do not wash in the dishwasher
- To make the copper shine, use lemon segments or copper polish.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight
Note: According to ayurveda, drinking water from a copper bottle twice or three times a day is more than enough to reap the many benefits. Only suitable for water. Not for milk, citrus and acid vloeistoffen.
Note 2: Copper discolours over time as a result of oxidation. The material can also show 'stains'. These are both natural properties of copper and have no negative effect on drinking from a copper bottle like this.
